A 40-year-old Fort Wayne man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon just east of Roanoke.
Brock Edward Bilyew died of blunt-force trauma in the crash, which occurred at around 12:50 p.m., according to the Huntington County Coroner’s Office.
Bilyew was driving alone in a 1999 Buick Century westbound on County Road 900 N near Gundy Road, when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle drove off the south side of the road and struck a tree head-on, according to a preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police. Master Trooper Gary Shenefield. Bilyew, who was wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for about an hour and a half.
Shenefield was assisted at the scene by the Roanoke Police Department, Roanoke Fire Department, Huntington County Emergency Management Agency, Huntington County Coroner’s Office and the Fort Wayne Police Department.
