5-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle wreck on Alabama 69

A 5-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle wreck on Alabama 69 Monday afternoon.

Alabama State Troopers say a 2003 Toyota Sequoia left the road and hit a guardrail near the Union Grove Road intersection in Guntersville at 12:15 p.m. Troopers say the boy was thrown from the vehicle and critically injured. Mallex C. Garner, 5, of Guntersville was died of his injuries at Huntsville Hospital.

The driver was also hurt and taken to Huntsville Hospital. Another passenger was uninjured, according to the news station.

Troopers are still investigating the wreck.
