18-Wheeler Crash Backs up near Bruceville ,Texas

An accident involving two 18-wheelers early Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 35 between Waco and Temple backed up traffic for several hours.The crash, which left the two rigs up against concrete barrier walls in the construction zone in the area of Old Blevins Road, backed up traffic for almost five miles to just north of Troy, the Texas Department of Transportation said.

Crews were still working to clear the accident scene late Wednesday morning.By noon the left lane of the northbound highway was open, but the right lane remained closed while crews repaired a damaged crash cushion.The northbound highway wasn't completely cleared until around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.The accident happened at around 6 a.m. when the driver of one of the 18-wheelers lost control of his northbound rig, which jackknifed, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said.

The driver of the second 18-wheeler tried unsuccessfully to avoid the jackknifed rig.Neither driver was injured.
