Potomac, MD : Navdeep Singh Kang, 25, dead from a motorcycle accident in Potomac on Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Officials say a 25-year-old medical student at George Washington University was struck and killed while driving his motorcycle in Potomac Wednesday.
According to Pete Piringer with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, the crash was reported just before 4 p.m. on River Road near Travilah Road.
The driver of a BMW SUV was attempting to make a left turn when he struck Navdeep Singh Kang, who was driving a motorcycle.
Kang, originally from Pittsburgh, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.
According to a release from GW, Kang was a fourth-year medical student at the school.
"Nav was a wonderfully caring, engaging person, an incredibly bright light in our school, whose absence will leave a tremendous hole in our community," Dr. Jeffrey Akman with GW's School of Medicine and Health Sciences said in a statement on GW's website.
The crash remains under investigation.
