CICERO, NY : At least one person has died in a crash on Route 298 in Cicero on February, Thursday 1st 2018

At least one person has died in a crash on Route 298 in Cicero between East Taft Road and Areopagitica Avenue, according to an Onondaga County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The crash has shut down that portion of Route 298 while deputies investigate the accident, according to Onondaga County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber. It is expected to be closed for "several hours," he said.

The sheriff's office has not yet released information about victims in the crash.

The accident drew units from the Minoa Fire Department, Town of Cicero Police and Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. Yellow police tape blocked off part of Route 298 and the units designated someone to direct traffic away from Route 298 for a short time.

More information will be released "at a later time," Seeber said.
