SAN ANTONIO, TX : Girl, 16, in critical condition after being struck in East Side hit-and-run on Monday, 11th December 2023

A 16-year-old girl is in the hospital after being struck in a hit-and-run late Monday night, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of Rigsby Avenue, not far from South W.W. White Road and Loop 410 on the city’s East Side.

According to police, a black sport utility vehicle was traveling westbound on Rigsby Avenue when it hit a teenager who was trying to cross a street.

Police said the teen was not walking in a crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle. The girl was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where at last check, she was listed in critical condition.

SAPD said the driver of the SUV fled following the crash and has not been found. When located, the driver will face a charge of failing to stop and render aid, police said.
