Jamestown, ND : No injuries in crash on April, Monday 10th 2017
A trailer with a commercial lift overturned north of Jamestown on Monday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
A semi belonging to Agri-Systems Inc. of Litchfield, Minn., was pulling a trailer with a commercial lift on the U.S. Highway 52/281 bypass. It came to a stop and was turning north onto U.S. Highway 52 when the load shifted and the trailer overturned at around 12:15 p.m., said Sgt. Ben Kennelly of the patrol.
The driver and passenger were not injured, Kennelly said.
The lift was uprighted at 1:45 p.m., and the truck was able to pull the trailer off the road at around 2:45 p.m. The lift was loaded onto another trailer, he said.
The wind was not likely a factor, Kennelly said. According to witness statements, it appeared the lift was top heavy and the load shifted when the trailer wheels left the road while executing the turn, he said.
Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to the scene after calls about fuel possibly leaking on the road at 12:20 p.m., Rural Fire Chief Ben Maulding said. Four units responded and two units remained with six firefighters until clearing the scene at 1:30 p.m.
“The fuel was not an issue,” Maulding said. “We left when the Highway Patrol took control of the scene to handle traffic control.”
