RIVIERA BEACH, FL : Hit-and-run crash at he intersection of West 15th Street and Avenue F on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020

A Riviera Beach police officer was taken to hospital Tuesday evening after being involved in a hit-and-run crash, a city spokeswoman said.

The officer was not injured, but went to the hospital for medical evaluation, according to department policy, spokeswoman AJ Walker said. The crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. at he intersection of West 15th Street and Avenue F.

Police say a black Dodge traveling east ran stop sign and struck a marked, southbound patrol cruiser. The Dodge’s driver then turned north onto Avenue F and fled the scene, Walker said.

The patrol cruiser sustained significant damage to the right rear quarter panel. Police units canvassed the area, but were unable to find the vehicle that struck the cruiser, Walker said.
