Police say weather conditions played a major role in a collision in Philadelphia that killed a child and sent eight other people — three of them children — to hospitals.
Police say a car traveling northbound with three adults and four children crossed over the center line Sunday shortly before 4 p.m. and collided with a southbound car carrying two adults.
Two off-duty police officers who witnessed the crash performed CPR on two children ejected from the first car. A 6-year-old boy died and a seven-week-old girl was listed in critical but stable condition.
A 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also critically injured, and two boys aged 4 and 5 were also hospitalized.
A 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman in the other car were also treated.
