Knoxville, TN : Michael Tharp, 57, killed after driving a vehicle through a fence and clipping the back of a mobile home on Monday afternoon, May 16, 2016
A 57-year-old Luttrell man was killed after the truck he was driving on Tazewell Pike left the road, drove through a fence and clipped the back of a mobile home at 7812 Tazewell Pike, according to authorities at the scene on Monday afternoon.
Michael Tharp died at the scene, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office. None of the three people inside the home was injured.
KCSO spokeswoman Martha Dooley said a witness driving north on Tazewell Pike behind Tharp's pickup truck saw it drift into the oncoming lane, then stop and suddenly accelerate, crossing Tazewell Pike and leaving the road.
Tharp's wife, who arrived at the scene after the crash, said he had a medical condition that might have contributed to the crash, Dooley said.
