Chico, CA : Woman arrested on DUI charge after crashing into pole on February, Wednesday 7th 2018

A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday after driving onto a sidewalk and crashing into a city light pole, Chico police said.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 4 p.m. at the corner of Longfellow and East Lindo avenues.

Police said the woman, whose name was not immediately available, was southbound on Longfellow Avenue before jumping a curb and striking the pole and knocking it over.

Witnesses said it appeared the woman tried to flee the scene before being stopped by onlookers.

The Toyota RAV4 the woman was driving sustained major front-end damage in the wreck.

Police said no one was hurt.

The accident delayed traffic in the area as police diverted motorists from southbound Longfellow Avenue to East Lindo Avenue.
