Columbia woman is killed in car accident

A 20-year-old Columbia woman died in a car crash on Interstate 70 early Friday morning.Heather Cole was driving eastbound on I-70 about 10 miles west of Boonville when her 2006 Ford traveled off the left side of the interstate and went through the median cable and into oncoming traffic, according a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. Cole's vehicle was then struck by a tractor-trailer headed westbound on I-70.Cole died at the scene. A passenger in her car, 20-year-old Sara Buxton of Columbia, was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries. She was listed in critical condition this morning.The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, the patrol said.
