Joplin, MO : Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Friday, August 4, 2017

Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 6:30 a.m. Friday on Missouri Highway 86, 4 miles south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jake M. Dumond, 29, of Joplin, was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Joplin. Valine J. Springer, 31, of Joplin, was taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

The crash occurred when the southbound Dumond vehicle crossed the center line and struck head-on the Springer vehicle, the patrol said.

• A Cassville man sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Missouri Highway 37, 3 miles north of Purdy in Barry County, the patrol said.

Andrew R. Adkins, 22, was treated at Mercy Hospital Cassville. The driver of a tractor-trailer unit, Jonathan G. Rodgers, of Frankfurt, Kentucky, was not injured.

The crash occurred when the westbound Rodgers unit tried to turn south on Highway 37 and failed to yield to the Adkins vehicle. Adkins attempted to avoid the collision, but struck the truck's trailer, the patrol said.
