Atlanta, GA : 5 students and 1 adult hurt in school bus crash on Friday, December, 8th 2017

Five students and one adult were injured Friday when a school bus from Rockdale County was in a crash on I-20 West, officials said.

The students were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, mostly cuts and bruises, a Rockdale County Public Schools spokeswoman said. The adult was also transported with non-life-threatening injuries, Atlanta police said.

The crash happened about 9:40 a.m. on I-20 near the ramp with Moreland Avenue, the Georgia Department of Transportation said. APD confirmed the crash was weather related.

A pickup truck trying to exit the highway lost control and crashed into the bus, the school system said.

There were three buses traveling together on a field trip to the High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta, school system spokeswoman Cindy Ball said. Another bus was sent to pick up the students on the damaged bus.

The school system has not released the name of the school where the students were from.
