ST. PETERSBURG, PA : Both drivers were ticketed in a crash on Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Both drivers were ticketed in a crash that resulted in serious injuries about 10 a.m. June on 54th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Tam Thanh Phan, 23, of St. Petersburg was driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata that was stopped at the intersection of 33rd Street North at the intersection of 54th Street North just before the crash occurred. Alyssa Nicole Driver, 22, of Pinellas Park was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound on 54th Avenue North in the left lane approaching the intersection of 33rd Street North.

According to a media release from the Florida Highway Patrol, when the Sonata turned left, it entered the path of the Elantra, and the front of the Elantra collided with the left side on the Sonata. After the impact, the Sonata traveled west and came to rest in the left lane. The Elantra traveled south, crossed the eastbound lanes of 54th Avenue North, and then collided with a curb and a power pole.

Driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to Bayfront Hospital. A passenger in her car, 3-year-old Amira Boone also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Phan was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Phan was ticketed for violation of right-of-way/stop sign. Driver was ticketed for driving with a suspended license, not wearing a seat belt, not using a child restraint and for having no proof of insurance.
