Salisbury Township, PA : Early morning crash snarls traffic On Interstate 78 westbound in Salisbury Township on Tuesday, 24th July 2018

A s heavy rains poured down on the Lehigh Valley early Tuesday, drivers in the region were facing flooding conditions and other traffic troubles.

On Interstate 78 westbound in Salisbury Township, scanner reports said a multi-vehicle accident occurred between the Summit Lawn and Emmaus Avenue exits.

Emergency radio reports indicated there were multiple patients with injuries, and paramedics radioed they were looking for cars involved as far as a half-mile from the crash site.

Just after 5:30 a.m., a medic radioed that “all patients have been accounted for.” He said one was en route to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

PennDOT traffic cameras showed heavy delays on I-78 westbound. After the initial crash, scanner reports said additional accidents had occurred on I-78, including one in Lower Saucon.

Around 7 a.m., a lane restriction was still in place in Salisbury Township.
