Rochester, N.H : Pedestrian struck and killed by car in Rochester on Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2016
A Rochester man is recovering after being struck by a car on Saturday afternoon.
Theodore Blackey, 51, was walking in the crosswalk across Columbus Avenue in Rochester at about 11:45 a.m., according to the Rochester Police Department.
Witnesses said a 2011 Chevy Malibu then pulled out of the Walgreens pharmacy parking lot and hit Blackey, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
An ambulance took Blackey to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was treated for a serious head injury as well as minor cuts and bruises.
Officers said Ronald Nichols, 75, of Rochester was driving the car. The crash caused minor damage to the driver side mirror where it hit Blackey, police said.
Rochester Police are investigating the crash. Anyone with information can call the Rochester Police Department at 330-7128. Cash rewards are offered for information that leads to an arrest.
