Two children suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. 31 north of James Street.An ambulance transported the two girls, ages 6 and 11, to a local hospital following the 3:09 p.m. crash. Their mother, Wendi Landford, 44, of Indiana, was not injured.Landford was traveling north on U.S. 31, going through the Michigan turn north of James Street to head south, Wendt said. Landford had a green light.A southbound vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old girl, ran the red light, Wendt said. Landford took evasive action, missed the southbound car, but went off the west side of the road and struck the utility pole that held traffic signals for both the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway.The 16-year-old was ticketed for running the red light.
