ROCKWOOD, MI : Victim in house crash dies on April, Wednesday 26th 2017
Joshua Davenport, a Dundee man whose SUV crashed into parked cars and a home in the City of Rockwood early Wednesday morning, has died from injuries sustained in the collision, police have confirmed.
Rockwood Police Detective Sgt. Steve Mercure said that Mr. Davenport, 25, died from his injuries Sunday. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital, Trenton, after his SUV crashed into the home in the 23000 block of Huron River Dr. The victim was driving eastbound on Huron River at a high rate of speed after striking a motorcyclist on Telegraph Rd. near Huron River Dr. The motorcyclist was injured but is expected to survive.
The police investigation “now points that alcohol and high speeds” were contributing factors in the man’s death, Sgt. Mercure said Monday.
Neighboring police and fire departments responded to the scene and the Downriver Crash Team was requested to assist due to the severity of the crash, he said.
