SALT LAKE CITY, UT : 2 seriously injured in separate collisions with trains in Salt Lake City on Monday, 30th September 2024

Two people were injured Monday in separate collisions with trains in Salt Lake City, police said.

A cyclist was hospitalized after colliding with a Union Pacific train in Salt Lake City Monday morning, the rail company said.

The crash happened about 10:20 a.m. near South Temple and 800 West in Salt Lake City, according to Union Pacific spokeswoman Meg Siffring.

Police confirmed the cyclist, a man, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

"The train crew was not injured, and the incident is under investigation," Siffring said via email.

Another person was injured later Monday in a separate train crash, police said. The crash happened in the area of 200 S. Redwood.
