PHOENIX, AZ : 3 people hospitalized after fiery crash partially closes Loop 202 in Phoenix on Wednesday, 23rd August 2023

Three people were taken to the hospital after a fiery crash on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in central Phoenix on Wednesday. It happened just before 6:30 p.m. on the westbound side near 24th Street. When crews arrived, they found multiple vehicles were involved in the crash and one of them was on fire. Firefighters quickly put it out. Fire crews say three adults were rushed to the hospital but it’s unclear what their conditions are. Several other victims were treated on the scene and didn’t need to go to the hospital.

Lanes on both the westbound and eastbound sides were blocked. It’s unclear what led up to the crash but black smoke could be seen for miles. Both sides were reopened just before 10 p.m.
