Mount Airy (Town), Georgia
Injuries were reported in two Friday accidents on Colquitt County roadways investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, but apparently only one occupant from any of the cars was treated at the hospital.
At about 3:15 p.m., Darrell Dean, 57, of Moultrie stopped at a stop sign at Highway 35 North and Livingston Bridge Road. Dean, driving west in a 2001 Dodge Ram, proceeded through the intersection and collided with a 2006 Ford Focus driven by Roger Nolen, 59, of Omega, authorities said.
Dean told the investigator that he did not see the oncoming car, which was traveling north on Highway 35, due to heavy rainfall.
After the collision the Focus rotated counterclockwise before coming to a rest.
The GSP said that both Nolen and 82-year-old Dorothy Nolen complained of injuries. However, neither was transported by ambulance.
There was no record of them seeking treatment at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
At about 7:34 p.m. Friday a Tallahassee woman pulled into the path of another car at the intersection of Highway 37 and Thigpen Trail, sending Andrew Kearns to the hospital after the 1998 Jeep Wrangler he was driving overturned.
Tabitha Krol, 33, told police that she did not see the stop sign as she was traveling north on Thigpen Trail. The 2016 Ford Escape she was driving was struck on the front passenger side, GSP reports said. Both cars continued moving west in the west-bound lane of Highway 37 and onto the shoulder, where the Jeep overturned.
Kearns, 22, of Camilla was treated at Colquitt Regional and released, the hospital spokeswoman said.
Krol was cited for failure to stop at stop sign.
