Hudsonville, MI: 13-year-old David Talsma and Ten people injured in chain-reaction crash along I-196 on Monday, August 3rd 2015
A teen boy is dead following a five-vehicle crash on I-196 near Hudsonville around 4:00 p.m. on Monday.Police said 13-year-old David Talsma of Hudsonville was killed in the crash, and 10 others were injured,The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened because a man driving a pickup truck was distracted while eating a sandwich. That man, identified by police as 40-year-old Travis Fox, of Crown Point, Ind., rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped or stopping in a construction zone.Fox rear-ended a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Aliya Talsma. 13-year-old David Talsma was in the backseat of that vehicle. Police said witnesses on scene attempted to revive David through CPR but were unsuccessful.All other injuries are considered non-life threatening, according to authorities.Eastbound I-196 at 32nd Avenue and M-6 at I-196 reopened around 7 p.m. after being closed for several hours.
