VALLEJO, CA : A 24-year-old Vallejo resident was killed on Monday, August 7, 2017
A 24-year-old Vallejo resident was killed Monday on the transition road from eastbound Interstate 80 to westbound Highway 37, and the California Highway Patrol is trying to piece together details of the single-car rollover crash.
Edgar Alvarez died about 6:20 a.m., the Solano County Coroner’s Officer reported. An autopsy will be conducted, but as of noon Monday had not been scheduled.
There are no surveillance cameras in the area to help with the investigation, and no witness had come forward, Officer Dawn Dwyer, the public information officer for the CHP office in Solano County, said in a phone interview.
Alvarez was driving a 1997 Honda Civic and was ejected from the car after he apparently had made an “unsafe turn” resulting in the rollover, the CHP reported in a statement.
Dwyer said there is no evidence to suggest that the Honda swerved to avoid another car and there are no skid marks.
“We don’t think it was a medical emergency,” Dwyer said about the potential cause of the crash.
The CHP encourages anyone with information about the incident to call 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247) or the CHP Solano Area Office at 428-2100. Relate that you have information for CHP-Solano and Officer Brunson.
