Hot Springs,SD : Hot Springs woman injured in crash on December, Saturday 23rd 2017
Hot Springs, South Dakota
A Hot Springs woman, her daughter and a friend were among those injured in a fatal wreck south of Hill City just before Christmas.
Lorna Shull, 56, was driving her 2014 Kia Sportage northbound on Highway 16 when the driver of a southbound 2017 Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line and collided head on with Shull at 5:18 p.m. Dec. 23.
Randall Lauen, 54, of Rapid City has been identified as the driver of the Jeep. He was killed in the wreck.
Shull suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries, according to a press release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. Her daughter, Kaysha Cameron, 22, also of Hot Springs, and Joshua Juhnke, 23, of Crystal Lake, Ill., sustained minor injuries in the crash.
A Facebook post indicates that Shull has had one surgery and is scheduled for another. Rapid City Regional Hospital reported that she was listed in fair condition on Dec. 27.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says law enforcement is investigating whether or not Shull and Lauen were wearing seatbelts. Cameron and Juhnke were both reported to have used seatbelts.
