Las Vegas, NV : Woman died and seven others injured after a car crash on state route 160 in Pahrump on Saturday, Oct 10, 2015

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a car crash today on state route 160 in Pahrump left one woman dead and another passenger in critical condition.

The collision happened about 10:40 a.m. at the highway’s intersection near Bell Vista Avenue, NHP spokesman Loy Hixson said.

According to NHP, a Ford Excursion was traveling south on route 160 when a northbound Hyundai van turned left onto Bell Vista and crossed into the path of the Ford. The front of the Ford struck the passenger side of the Hyundai.

There were five occupants inside the Hyundai van, including two women, two men and a male juvenile. A female passenger of the van was pronounced dead at the scene, Hixson said.

Three were transported to a local hospital in Pahrump, and one in critical condition by flight to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The Ford had three male occupants, who were all transported to a local hospital in Pahrump with non-life threatening injuries.

State route 160 was closed since 11 a.m. near the crash. It is expected reopen in the late afternoon.
