Tallahassee, FL : Two Iowans killed when semi hit car in Seward County on Tuesday, December 20th 2016
Two Iowa residents were killed Tuesday evening when the car they were in was hit broadside by a semi that ran a stop sign at U.S. 54 in Seward County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at about 6:30 p.m., Jerry Dean Slykhuis, 73, Cedar Falls, Iowa, was driving a 2014 Toyota Rav4 west on U.S. 54 at the intersection with County Road 7. At the same time, Abdullah Muhammad, 26, Orlando, Florida, was southbound on County Road 7 in a 2016 Freightliner semi pulling a trailer.
The Patrol said the semi failed to stop at the stop sign and crashed into the side of the Toyota.
Jerry Slykuis and his passenger, Jacqueline Jane Slykuis, 70, Cedar Falls, both were killed. They were wearing seat belts.
Neither Muhammad nor his passenger, Renix Michael Charles, 27, Apopka, Florida, was injured. They also were wearing seat belts.
