Berkeley County, SC : One injured after car crashes into Goose Creek home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016
Moncks Corner, South Carolina
Officials with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office say a person in a Goose Creek home suffered minor injuries after a car fleeing authorities crashed into his or her residence.
According to BCSO officials, members of the Berkeley Narcotics Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol in the area of Howe Hall Road at 8 p.m. Wednesday when they saw a white Acura sedan commit a traffic violation.
A report states the detectives attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle chose to not stop but speed away.
"The detectives did not chase the vehicle as it was considerably quicker and showed no signs of desiring to stop," BCSO officials said.
BCSO officials had reported earlier that a brief chase occurred with the suspect's vehicle.
"The vehicle made quick turns and then went down Old Back River Road, where the detectives lost sight of the vehicle," authorities said.
Shortly after, deputies say the Acura failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a home on Princeton Road. In addition, authorities said the vehicle struck a sign.
Following the crash, investigators say the driver fled on foot, and detectives and deputies are searching for the suspect.
K-9 units were also spotted in the area.
A report by the sheriff's office states someone in the home suffered minor injuries, but no specifics are available.
Authorities reported that a search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of half a pound of marijuana.
No suspect information is available, however BCSO officials say the suspect will be caught.
