The Kansas Highway Patrol late Saturday was investigating the circumstances of a two-vehicle traffic accident in the area of S.E. 15th and Adams involving a red minivan and a Topeka police patrol car sport-utility vehicle.

Three people were taken from the scene to a Topeka hospital, with all suffering injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, said Lt. Bill White of the Topeka Police Department.

A Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center dispatcher said officers and rescue workers were called to the scene at 6:32 p.m.

Topeka firefighters could be seen at the crash site helping an injured woman onto a stretcher, which was used to load her onto an American Medical Response ambulance that took her to a Topeka hospital.

Information wasn’t being released about the names, ages and sexes of those involved.

White said the highway patrol was investigating to determine how the crash occurred.

He asked anyone with information about the crash to call highway patrol dispatchers at (785) 296-6908.

The accident ended with the Topeka police SUV, which had damage to its right front, having left the road on its east side just south of S.E. 15th and Adams.

The SUV came to a rest facing northeast.

The minivan came to rest along the east curb further south on Adams, facing south/southeast.
