Elkhart, IN : Driver injured in single-vehicle crash on Ash Road north of Carroll Avenue early Saturday morning, May 14, 2016
The driver of a minivan that struck a utility pole early Saturday morning east of Elkhart fled the scene of the crash, leaving an injured passenger.
The 2010 Dodge Caravan was traveling north on Ash Road north of Carroll Avenue when it left the road off the east side, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. The minivan hit a utility pole and several trees, causing heavy front-end damage to the vehicle.
The driver of the minivan fled the scene while the passenger, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to her back.
First responders were called to the scene of the crash at about 2:13 a.m. Saturday.
Police are still investigating.
