An 85-year-old Olathe man was killed Wednesday afternoon after crashing his car into a bridge pillar on Interstate 435 in Wyandotte County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the fatality victim as Robert A. Nash.

According to the patrol, Nash was driving a 2005 Honda Element at 3:50 p.m. on southbound I-435 in Edwardsville when he lost control of his vehicle, which struck the bridge pillar for Kansas Avenue.

Nash, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.
