Monroe, LA : Man dead, after a three vehicle crash in South Monroe early Sunday morning, April 17, 2016

A Monroe man died Sunday morning after the vehicle he was a passenger in was struck by another vehicle.

Shortly after 3:15 a.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 165 approximately three miles south of Monroe.

The initial investigation revealed 45-year-old LaShall Evans of Monroe was driving a 2013 Nissan Sentra south on US 165 and attempted to make a left turn onto Dellwood Drive. As the vehicle made the turn, it was struck by a northbound 2006 Audi driven by 28-year-old Kenneth Ceasar Jr. of Monroe. After striking the Audi, the Sentra rotated into the outside northbound lane of travel and struck a 2001 Cadillac Deville.

A passenger in the Sentra, 47-year-old Steven Reed of Monroe, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
