I-5, Highway 99 accidents snarl Friday rush hour
Commuters trying to get through South Snohomish County during the Friday afternoon rush hour found the going slow as a couple of car accidents clogged up major north-south arterials.
At least one lane of northbound I-5 was shutdown late Friday afternoon as crews responded to a rollover accident near the 220th Street overpass. The freeway was backed up for miles into Seattle at the height of the slowdown.
During the four o’clock hour, two northbound lanes of the 22300 block of Highway 99 were blocked by a three-car accident that sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries. Fire District 1 crews from Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace responded to the accident, taking the injured to Swedish Edmonds Hospital.
