Tampa, FL : Hit-and-run driver in fatal accident sought by law enforcement on February, Sunday 25th 2018
A hit-and-run crash has left a Tampa man dead, his female passenger in critical condition and law enforcement in search of the man who was driving the vehicle that struck them from behind.
A Nissan Sentra was traveling north in the inside lane of U.S. 301 shortly after 11 a.m. near Gerry Lane on Sunday when it struck a Ford F-150 pickup traveling in the same lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision propelled the pickup across a raised concrete median and into the southbound lanes, where it overturned.
The F-150’s driver, Manuel Patino-Villa, 57, and female passenger, Maria Munguia-Villasenor, 55, were partially ejected from the vehicle.
Patino-Villa died at the scene. Munguia-Villasenor was taken to Tampa General Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Two child passengers also were taken to the hospital. One-year-old Jeanette Vieyra sustained minor injuries and 13-year-old Jouri Vieyra had no injuries.
After the crash, the male driver of the Sentra abandoned the vehicle and got into a white Nissan driven by a woman, according to the Highway Patrol. The man was wearing red, white and black clothing. He was described by the Highway Patrol as African-American and the driver of the fleeing Nissan was described as Hispanic.
