La Crosse County, WI : One person was killed and two critically injured in dump truck crash Wednesday October 8th 2014.
The driver of a dump truck that rear-ended a Ford Mustang in Jully, killing the 29-year-old driver, faces a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
More details in the case against Frank Rychtik, 36, of Arpin will be available after he makes his first appearance Wednesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
Jason Songer of La Crescent, Minn., was driving his 1967 Ford Mustang about 7:50 a.m. July 24 just east of Exit 2 in the town of Campbell in the east lanes of the interstate when he was rear-ended by the dump truck driven at 55 mph, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol. Songer and other traffic had stopped in the construction zone to allow cars to merge onto the interstate.
The dump truck ended up atop the Mustang in the median before both vehicles caught fire. The crash caused a chain reaction that involved an SUV, car, van and a semi, according to the Campbell Fire Department.
