Bicyclist hit, killed on Wednesday Near Dalton Georgia

A Dalton man is dead after riding his bicycle off a sidewalk into a southbound lane of Cleveland Highway Wednesday evening, according to officials with the Georgia State Patrol.Arnold Dennis, 52, was struck by a gold Toyota Avalon at 6:32 p.m., officials said. Dennis was riding his bike south when he moved from the sidewalk to the right lane of traffic. Officials said the reason Dennis went into traffic is under investigation and no criminal charges have been filed.Whitfield County Coroner Bobbie Dixon said Dennis was taken to Hamilton Medical Center and pronounced dead “shortly thereafter.”
