Columbus, OH : One dead, one injured in crash on I-270 on Saturday, March 25th 2017

One person is dead and another critically injured after a tractor-trailer slammed into a car that was stopped in the middle of Interstate 270 just north of Route 33 on Saturday morning.

Maria Hayslip, 28, the driver of the car, died at the scene, Columbus police said. Benjamin Devries, 32, the truck driver, was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition, police reported.

Hayslip's 2013 Hyundai was stopped at 1:40 a.m. in the center lane of northbound Interstate 270 with its lights out "for reasons still under investigation," according to a police news release.

The northbound tractor-trailer struck the rear of the Hyundai, knocking the car off the right side of the road, where it struck a tree. The rig also went off the right side and jackknifed, sliding on its side into a tree.
