Gainesville, FL : Bronson woman, 25, dies in Parker Road crash on Sunday morning, March 5, 2017

A 25-year-old Bronson woman died on Southwest 122nd Street Sunday morning when she lost control of her SUV, hit a culvert and overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol reported Monday.

Brittany Jo Perkins died in the crash, troopers reported. Passenger Virgil C. Hughes, 31, also of Bronson, was not hurt, the FHP news release said.

The crash happened at 5:50 a.m. The driver was in a 2001 Nissan Xterra southbound on 122nd Street, also known as Parker Road, when the SUV traveled off the road for unknown reasons. It hit a culvert and overturned, ending up in the road.

Parker Road was blocked for about four hours after the crash, FHP said.
