Reading, PA : 56-year-old man injured in crash on Interstate 78 in Tilden Township on Friday, February 17, 2017
A 56-year-old Reading man is in Reading Hospital with injuries suffered when his SUV struck a tractor-trailer on a ramp to Interstate 78 in Tilden Township, state police said.
Severiano Desiderio was driving on the Route 61 northbound ramp to I-78 when his SUV collided about 6:25 a.m. with a tractor-trailer driven by Vincent Letterlough, 44, of Lawrenceville, Ga., troopers said
Desiderio's suffered head and torso injuries, but a medical condition was not immediately available, officials said.
The interstate was shut down for nearly three hours.
According to state police at Hamburg:
Desiderio was driving north on the ramp and failed to yield to rig. The vehicles collided, and Desiderio's SUV was pushed into the guide rail. The SUV rolled down an embankment, trapping Desiderio inside.
Shoemakersville and Shartlesville fire departments and Hamburg Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
