Woodford, VT : Man dies in a motorcycle crash on Vermont 9 in the Bennington County on Friday morning, September 30, 2016

A North Carolina man was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle accident on Vermont 9 in the Bennington County town of Woodford, Vermont State Police said.

Peter Nosek, 44, of Charlotte, N.C., was driving west on his 2009 Harley Davidson along with two other motorcycles, police said.

Police gave this account of the fatal crash:

The two other motorcycles had passed several vehicles also traveling westbound. Nosek started to pass the vehicles when a dump truck came around the corner. Nosek went off the eastbound lane and traveled about 400 feet along the roadway before striking a culvert where he was thrown from the motorcycle. Police said he struck a large rock off the eastbound lane and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bennington Rescue.

Police said the road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash.
