WELLS, ME : 6 injured in serious crash at mile marker 15 northbound on Sunday, 14th July 2019

A serious crash Sunday morning closed part of the Maine Turnpike in Ogunquit.

The Maine Turnpike Authority said the crash at mile marker 15 northbound was reported at about 8 a.m.Six Massachusetts residents were injured in a two-car collision on the northbound side of the turnpike. One car stopped suddenly on the highway after experiencing engine failure, and a second car slammed into it.

Maine State Police identified the driver of the first car as 53-year-old Carrie Pitts, of Lexington, Massachusetts. The driver of the second car was identified as 33-year-old Abner Vasquez-Ardon, of Chelsea, Massachusetts.

The two drivers and their passengers were taken to local hospitals.
