LIGONIER, IN : Wakarusa man dies in Ligonier crash on Saturday, February 25th 2017
A Wakarusa man died at a local hospital after the vehicle he was driving left the road, rolled several times and was found half-submerged in water Saturday night near the intersection of C.R. 1100 North and C.R. 500 W., in Ligonier.
According to Noble County police, a 2009 Chevy 3K2 driven by Michial Thompson II, 39, Wakarusa, was partially submerged in water with the unresponsive driver nearby. Thompson was transported to Parkview Regional Hospital, where he later died from injuries, police said.
During an investigation, police said Thompson was driving east bound on 1100 North, approaching 500 West at about 9 p.m. Saturday when he drove off the south side of the road. After over-correcting his vehicle, Thompson drove approximately 600 feet in a field before hitting a small wetland. Police said the vehicle appeared to have rolled multiple times after hitting the water. The crash remains under investigation, police said.
