LITTLEROCK, AR : Littlerock crash injures 4, ruptures gas line on Monday, March 6th 2017
Four people were injured, three critically, in a two-vehicle crash in Littlerock that also caused a gas line to rupture, prompting the evacuation of three homes, authorities said today.
The crash was reported at 7:09 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 96th Street East and East Avenue S, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 21-year-old man, was traveling south on 96th Street East and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection at Avenue S, crashing into a 1996 Toyota Corolla, the CHP reported.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles spun to the southeast corner of the intersection where the Chevrolet’s two passengers were ejected, and the Honda, driven by a 48-year-old man, crashed into a gas main and fence, the CHP said.
All the patients were taken to hospitals, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The Southern California Gas Co. was summoned to assist in stopping the gas leak, a county fire department dispatcher said.
The crash and gas leak shut down 96th Street East in both directions for the investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash, the CHP said.
The Chevrolet’s driver was not arrested.
