Iowa City, IA : Man was struck by cars in fatal Highway 1 crash on Monday, April 3, 2017

Police are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian struck by two vehicles on Highway 1 in Iowa City.

The collision killed 51-year-old Jack Lee Beverlin of Iowa City, police said. Beverlin walked out into traffic on the 400 block of U.S. Highway 1 West around 8:37 p.m. Monday when he was hit by two eastbound vehicles, according to a police department news release.

Beverlin was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Iowa City Police Department is investigating, although no charges are expected against either driver, according to the release.

The Iowa City Fire Department and Johnson County Ambulance also responded to the scene of the collision.
