Las Vegas, NV : 44-year-old Alamo woman killed in head-on crash with tractor-trailer on U.S. 93 in Lincoln County on Tuesday, February 17, 2015

A passenger in a car driving the wrong way on U.S. 93 in Lincoln County was killed Tuesday night in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The car, a 1997 Acura, was headed north about 9 p.m. when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane and collided with the truck, officials said. The truck driver steered left to try to avoid the crash, officials said.

A 44-year-old Alamo woman who was in the front passenger seat of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The driver of the Acura, a 40-year-old man from Alamo, was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with substantial injuries, officials said.

The truck driver, a 47-year-old man from Rialto, Calif., was not injured, officials said.
