ETNA, ME : Woman killed in Etna car crash on Friday, August 4, 2017
A woman is dead after a Friday car crash in Etna.
Two vehicles collided on Route 2 just after 3 p.m., authorities said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in the other car was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.
"It looks like a head on sideswipe impact, but again it's very early in the investigation. We are on the crest of a hill here. It's a wide-open road," Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton said.
The identities of the people involved in the crash have not been released.
A reconstruction team was called to the scene to try investigate the accident and clear the roadway of a great deal of debris.
Route 2 was shut down for around four hours.
