One person was killed and two others were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Courthouse Road in Chesterfield County.

Police said the crash happened about 12:50 p.m. when a 2006 Toyota Highlander heading north in the 3000 block of Courthouse Road ran off the roadway into the median and hit a tree. After striking the tree, the Highlander entered the southbound lanes of Courthouse Road and struck a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner.

The driver of the 4-Runner, Robin Carlson, 55, of the 11300 block of Boston Drive in Boston, Va., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Highlander and a passenger of the 4-Runner were taken to hospitals with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.

The crash, which remained under investigation Thursday night, occurred just north of Rockwood Park, which is near the intersection of Courthouse and Hull Street roads.
