Sanford, FL : Man carjacks delivery driver in Sanford on June 12, 2014
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash following a carjacking in Seminole County.
According to FHP, the suspect initially tried to carjack a victim at a Kangaroo Express gas station in Sanford, but that victim fought the man off.
The suspect found another victim, a Domino's delivery driver; and he successfully stole the driver's truck.
Police pursued the stolen truck through Sanford onto I-4 when the truck got off on SR-434, and sideswiped another car before crashing into a tree on West Highland Street near Douglas Avenue.
According to the police report, the suspect was fleeing in the stolen truck at a high rate of speed, traveling southbound on Douglas Avenue.
The driver attempted to pass traffic traveling in the same direction, and struck the back of another vehicle.
Police say the driver then lost control of the truck, and struck a tree with the front right of the vehicle. The initial impact caused the driver's side of the truck to strike another tree.
