Buffalo, IN : 2 injured in White County crash on Thursday afternoon, March 16, 2017
A two-vehicle crash hospitalized a driver and a passenger while shutting down a state highway Thursday afternoon in White County.
The White County 911 Communications Center received a report of the personal injury crash at the intersection of Ind. 16 and 300 East at about 12:17 p.m. March 16, according to a press release from the White County Sheriff's Department.
The preliminary investigation indicates a silver 2012 Chevy Sonic passenger car operated by Kaitlyn L. Rumsey, 21, Francesville, was traveling north on 300 East, the release states.
A silver 1999 Pontiac Montana operated by Kimberly Landis, 54, Monticello, was traveling westbound on Ind. 16 approaching the intersection of 300 East, the release continues.
The Chevy Sonic proceeded into the intersection, colliding with the Pontiac Montana, according to the release.
The release goes on to state traffic on Ind. 16 was closed for about an hour while police investigated the crash.
Landis and her juvenile passenger were transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, the release states, and Rumsey refused treatment at the scene.
The crash was investigated by White County Sheriff's Deputy David Rozzi. Assisting at the scene were the Monticello Fire Department and the Monon Volunteer Fire Department.
