Two cars crashed into a utility pole and knocked out power in Thornton Saturday.

Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue says it received a call around 4:45 p.m. for a car that had struck a utility pole on Route 175 at Pine Path.

Crews say when they arrived, they found two cars with people inside and live electrical lines down on both cars.

NH Electric Co-op responded to the scene about a half-hour later and de-energized the lines. The people inside the cars were able to get out safely. No one was hurt, according to the Campton-Thornton Fire Department.

Firefighters say power crews are replacing the damaged pole and wires. They expect power to be out in the area for several hours.
